What is the shelf life of a Roots In Rice baking mix?

Our baking mixes have a 1 year shelf life. Because we do not have any artifical perservatives in our products, they have a shorter shelf life than conventional baking mixes.

Where should I store the Roots In Rice baking mix?

Best to store our baking mixes in a cool, dry place.

How long does shipping take?

Shipping usually takes 3-10 days.

Do you ship outside of the US?

We do not ship outside of the US currently.

Ingredient & Dietary Question

Where are our products made from?

Our flavor ingredients ie. Japanese Strawberry and Matcha are sourced from Japan and our Black Tea is sourced from Sri Lanka/Japan. All other ingredients are made in the US.

What Japanese strawberry do we use?

Our products use the Amaou, the King of Japanese Strawberries because of its deep red color and rich aromatic flavor.

What grade of Japanese matcha do we use?

Our product uses a high quality culinary grade of Japanese matcha that mimics cermonial matcha in deep rich color and robust taste. We chose culinary grade matcha because it is best for baking - its a strong structured tea that will not lose its flavor when mixed with other ingredients.

Are our products Gluten Free?

Are our products Non GMO?

We are working on getting our products NON GMO certified.

Does our products contain artificial colors, flavors or perservatives?

Our products were meticulously selected and does not contain any artificial preservatives, flavors or synthetic dyes.

Are our products vegan?

Our baking mixes are not vegan friendly when it requires the addition of animal products such as eggs and buttermilk to achieve the signature texture.

Baking Questions

What oil should you use?

You can use any neutral oils like canola, vegetable, avocado, grapeseed oil.

Can you make cupcakes with our baking mix?

Due to the light and fluffy cake texture, our baking mixes do not work well in the cupcake format.

Why do we use a whisk vs a spatula to fold?

When folding with a whisk, the whisk helps you gently fold the ingredients without deflating the air bubbles which helps preserves the light texture of the cake.

Why do we need to blend the batter?

Blending is a baking technique to effectively emulsify/combine the ingredients together which will allow the batter to create a smooth,  light and fluffy cake.

Do the eggs and milk ingredients need to be room temperature?

No, the eggs and milk do NOT need to be in room temperature.
