Our Story

We’re Roots in Rice—Asian-inspired, gluten-free cake mixes. Our founder, Chef Judy, spent 10+ years developing Asian-inspired cake flavors. After being diagnosed with an autoimmune condition, Judy began eating gluten-free to help manage inflammation. Then one day in the cake mix aisle, Judy noticed what was missing: the Asian flavors she grew up with. That moment sparked Roots in Rice.

Roots in Rice is for people who eat gluten-free to protect their health—and are tired of separate desserts, awkward explanations, or feeling like the exception when cake comes out. Our purpose is simple: bring you back to the table by making chef-standard, gluten-free cake that everyone actually wants a piece of—so dessert feels normal again.
